Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has purchased and is dedicating a historic marker to be placed on the grounds of the Hendricks County Courthouse. The dedication coincides with the end of the chapters 100th anniversary and Hendricks County 200th Bicentennial.

On Sunday, November 10th, at 1:00 pm, the marker honoring twenty Revolutionary War patriots and soldiers known to be buried in Hendricks County will be dedicated at the Courthouse, 51 West Main, Danville, IN. The marker, which is being created by Hunt and Sons Memorial in Danville, will be inscribed with names of each patriot/soldier and bear an inscription dedicated to Civil War veterans.  It is believed this is the first county marker dedicated to Revolutionary War patriots and soldiers.

A reception will follow the dedication in the Courthouse Rotunda. Should inclement weather occur, the dedication will be held inside the Rotunda.

This marker not only honors those who fought for our independence and freedom but is a gift to Hendricks County, the organizations, and the residents of Hendricks County to show our gratitude and appreciation for their unwavering support of our chapter.

The chapter has located several descendants of the Patriots who will be in attendance and recognized.

Please reach out if you’re interested in participating. Color guard muster at noon.
