The Indiana Color Guard has been invited by Cherie Baxter, Indiana DAR State Regent, to participate in the Lafayette Marker Dedication on Monday, May 1 at 2:00 pm Eastern time at Lafayette Spring in Cannelton, IN, which is right along the Ohio River.
Contact Randy Helderman if you have any questions. Phone: 812-630-2315. Email: rhelderman69@gmail.com.
The markers are being placed where General de Lafayette visited along his 5,000 mile Farewell Tour in 1824 & 1825. He didn’t visit anywhere else in Indiana and if his steamboat wouldn’t have gone down he wouldn’t have visited.
This is the text of the markers which tells what happened.
