There is a lot going on in the neighborhood this weekend and we were lucky enough to work with our neighborhood churches to procure spots so it’s a little wonky and different than last year but I/we appreciate your willingness to bend a little

Feel free to pull up to or on the property for set up on Thursday. No problem then!

If you are part of Resident Row or Ackley’s Alley, please park at Northwood Christian Church 4550 Central (about 2 blocks away)

If you are located on the Town Green, please park at United Methodist Church 5500 N Meridian. As people park we can work together to scoop you up so you don’t have to walk.

I know it’s odd. We’re trying to save street parking for attendees. Some of you have trailers. If these parking spaces don’t suit, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Friday morning when you check in before 9 AM with Patty Hons the volunteer coordinator, you will receive a bag of snacks and info. There will be coffee and donuts there. When you are ready for lunch, at that same tent/table there will be hot dogs and fixings!! (Ticket will be in your bag) Saturday your lunch is also in the form of a ticket in your treat bag. This ticket will get you a boxed lunch at the Chik Filet tent. There will be a cooler with waters and drinks at that table just for you too!

If you have a specific role in the News of the Day Skit, please do not forget we have a zoom rehearsal tonight at 7 PM. If you do not, you as a villager are still an important part of this tableau , I’m attaching it for you to look over as this is the piece that sets the tone for the day. Feel free to engage with visitors on the topic and engage the conversation (see talking points). At the end of the day, we want all the villagers to join the mob one side or the other so we can demonstrate the anger and angst of the colonies in 1775. When the mysterious gunshot goes off, freeze in place until the reading of the Declaration begins. I won’t give it all away… read the skit…it says it all!!! We will be having a walk through rehearsal on Thursday so feel free to follow along and be a part of it as villagers.

Last, attached is the village map! It takes a village and I am deeply grateful for THIS village. You see this is a very personal project for me. I believe in education and community and American History and hands on experiences. I believe immersing yourself is the best way to learn. maybe its the Hollywood background and maybe it is too many play dates at Disneyland, maybe I just never really grew up…whatever the reason, it really hit me during the creation of this map. I oversaw the placing of every tent and building and I smiled knowing each person who was being placed there. YOU are my village, some of you going back many years and states, some of you newer to me, but you believe in what we are doing, you trust the process, you bring the ideas alive and to be blunt, you make it better!!!
