They wore the uniform for liberty. We wear it to remember them.

About the Color Guard
The Indiana SAR Color Guard serves as the ceremonial face of our state and its chapters—presenting colors, honoring patriot graves, and bringing our nation’s founding era to life at public and private events across the state.
We wear the uniforms of the our patriot ancestors. We march with pride. We represent the memory of those who fought for America’s freedom.
The Indiana SAR Color Guard appears throughout the year at major patriotic ceremonies and community events across the state. Their most prominent engagement is alongside the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony on the Prairie concerts at Conner Prairie during early July, where they present colors before nightly patriotic performances and fireworks finales attracting over 30,000 attendees. In May, during the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous they participate in the ceremonies at the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park to commemorate the Siege at Fort Sackville. They have also rendered honors at Memorial Day and Veterans Day services—such as the Crown Hill National Cemetery memorial in Indianapolis and the 500 Festival Memorial Service at the Indiana War Memorial—and join Veterans Day parades in cities across Indiana. Throughout the year they mark patriot graves and conduct respectful flag retirement ceremonies at sites including the Indiana Military Museum.
Beyond formal observances, the Color Guard enhances America 250 SAR commemorations—battle anniversaries, bench dedications, and educational programs at schools and historic sites—promoting Revolutionary War heritage to diverse audiences. To find upcoming appearances, consult the Indiana Society SAR event calendar or follow local historical and patriotic organizations for scheduled Color Guard events.
