Hosted by the Continental Chapter.
Meeting to start at 10:00 am
Commemoration after lunch will be held at 1:30 pm at the Gardens of Memories Veterans Memorial located on the public square of Knightstown just northwest of the legion post building. We will be honoring Rev War Patriot Henry Williamson and laying a memorial there for him. Williamson is a newly found patriot whose pension records him as dying in Henry County, IN May 4, 1832. Patriot Williamson fought from “1st Jersey Regiment” early in 1775 in the “Battle of Three Rivers” later in the militia fought at “Battles of Germantown, Morristown, Trenton and Princeton.”
This event will be a Partners in Patriotism event in that the American Legion of Knightstown plan to participate.
Paperwork is being completed presently as well with the national SAR headquarters to qualify Henry Williamson as being eligible for credit that could be counted towards the Grave Marking Medal. We will be waiting on his patriot number for designation. It is essential if an SAR member wishes to get credit for that medal that he be listed as participating in some special way and be listed in the ceremony agenda. Therefore contact Mark Kreps, SAR Continental Member by Sept 28, 2019 if you plan to present a wreath, read a greetings from your chapter, read a proclamation, say a blessing, etc. so that it can be a part of the agenda.
There will be more information on cost and directions on what to mail where, soon.
